Site Registration:
Registration to this forum is free. We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. Upon registering for newsboys Message Boards, you will be sent an initial verification email to the email address you provide when you signup. This email must be a valid email address. If you do not receive the verification e-mail, check your spam folder. If it is not there, contact nbHelp or one of the moderators via Private Message to activate your account. You will not be able to post messages until you do. Passwords are case sensitive.
Here are some basic posting guidelines, please respect them:
* Before posting, familiarize yourself with the different forums and read the FAQ. Also, search a bit to see if the topic of the thread you would like to post already exists. Title threads appropriately so that others will have an idea of the thread topic before opening and you will be able to find your own posts without much trouble. Please don’t post the same topic more than once or in more than one forum. (cross-posting)
* Stay on topic. Please do not derail existing topics with a largely unrelated discussion. Discussions can sometimes move in other directions but try not to let them move too far from the original topic. You can always start another thread on any new topics of discussion that arise.
* Be gracious to other posters. No insults, flaming, name calling or personal attacks, etc. When someone disagrees with you, by all means discuss it; but be slow to anger, and rather be eager to get into the Word and find the answers. This is a Christian message board. We ask that members refrain from rude comments about others and stick to the topic at hand. You don't have to agree with other people's opinions, but you must disagree in a respectful manner.
* Post appropriate topics for a Christian message board and messages of interest to more than just a select group of members. You can always use Private Messages to share jokes or stories meant for only a couple of your friends. Posts that simply tear one another down will be removed. Controversial subjects and debates are welcome, but please be mindful of posting language, graphic descriptions or images that may not be considered appropriate by the general community. When posting advice or prayer requests, there is usually no need to go into deep detail about an issue on the main forums, especially if a problem is of a personal nature. More intimate details are usually best shared one-on-one with members you feel closest to.
A common issue for many people can be depression, and occasionally suicidal feelings. We want to reach out, support, encourage and empower everyone here, so please feel free to talk about your depression and your feelings. However, we do not allow posts that threaten suicide, contain threats to hurt others, or to hurt yourself. Posts of this type will be removed or edited. This site is not a substitute for professional medical help. If you are feeling suicidal, this is an emergency that you should take seriously, and you need to seek immediate medical help for this.
* Please refrain from discussing topics such as newsboys' hair, makeup, church denomination, dreams, fanfics , photo captions or your favorite 'boy. Also, do not post game threads. All games will be posted by the administrators.
* Please follow the rules of web etiquette and make good use of the English language. Stick to English so that we are all speaking the same language and everyone can understand. Don't use too many acronyms (eg. lmao, TMTYL, lol) or typing shortcuts (eg. u r gr8t! i <3 u 2) or post in ALL CAPS or HUGE FONT. ( '3' is the largest allowed font size). Follow the size rules for avatars and signatures given above in order to keep posts to a manageable size.
* Please do not register multiple accounts at newsboys Message Boards as only one account will be allowed per user. People using multiple accounts may be banned. If you have more than one member posting from your computer, please send a Priveate Message to nbHelp to let us know who all will be posting.
* No trolling (posting a controversial point of view with the intent of causing an argument), soliciting (advertising businesses or products, items for sale or requesting donations), spamming (useless or unwanted posting, such as repeatedly making off-topic replies; posting excessively about the same thing, persistantly making one-word replies, replying to your own posts or making multiple polls in a single forum in one day in either posts or via PM) or posting copyrighted content (such as concert video taken by a fan and posted on YouTube). In general, DO NOT POST YOUTUBE VIDEOS!!!
Real Good Things:
Real Good Things are "points" you receive or give for random things. The administrators and some members can give Real Good Things because they like a post, they want to make your day, it's your birthday, etc. RGTs are displayed as little grey boxes and numbers that are at the top right of your posts. There is a icon of a set of scales at the top right of each post. Click the icon, and a window will pop up allowing you to give RGTs. When a new user first starts out, their RGTs hits do not include any actual points, however they can leave positive messages or feedback for other members regarding their post.
There are a few factors that determine RGT Power and when RGT hits should start counting. Some of those factors are the number of posts, the number of days a member has been registered, and the number of RGTs that have been given to them. RGTs should be given to people who post meaningful, helpful, and thoughtful posts. Any post that contributes to the thread in a positive way probably deserves positive RGTs. This does not necessarily have to mean that you agree with what was said; the point brought up may be completely opposite to what you believe, but it may be a good point nonetheless, and worthy of a pat on the back. Giving RGTs to someone because they are your friend and deserve to have a few more grey boxes to their name isn't a good reason to give RGTs.
Administrators give 10 points per hit. Administrators also have the power to give as many RGTs as they like for any posts that warrant an extra bonus. Specifically ask for RGTs and they will probably be taken away from you! Please don't beg.
There is a limit of 10 RGT clicks a user can give over each 24 hour period. You must give RGTs to 20 members before you can hit the same person again. The number of Real Good Things you can give with each click corresponds to your RGT Power.
Negative RGTs should be given if a member is posting something that detracts from the conversation. If the post is rude, inappropriate, breaks forum rules, is not gracious, etc; these are all good reasons to give negative RGTs. If you have a personal grudge against someone, it is not appropriate to give them negative RGTs for no reason. Giving negative RGTs because you don't agree with what was said is also inappropriate use of the RGT system. People are entitled to their own opinions, just because you don't agree doesn't mean the user was wrong or not contributing to the conversation. Administrators have the power to take away as many points as they deemed necessary for violations.
If you go into your User CP (linked at the top of every page) you can see a list of the past 25 Real Good Things you have received.
